What a clinic manager does

A clinic manager runs the business side of a healthcare practice. They hire and schedule staff, oversee billing and revenue, manage suppliers and facilities, handle patient complaints and make sure the clinic meets its privacy, health and safety, and infection control obligations. For owners who are also practising clinicians, a capable manager is the difference between working on the business and being consumed by it, especially as the clinic grows.

Clinic managers come from many backgrounds: experienced MOAs who stepped up, healthcare administrators and operations leaders from outside healthcare. The right fit depends on your clinic's size, specialties, payers and growth plans. Finch learns what you need the manager to own, from budgets to staff development, then screens candidates for relevant experience and leadership style before you meet them, so every interview is worth your time.

Hiring a clinic manager: common questions

Should our clinic manager have a clinical background?

Not necessarily. Some clinics prefer a manager with clinical training who understands workflows from the inside, while others benefit more from strong business and operations skills. The deciding factor is usually what the manager will own. We help you define that during the consultation, then target the right background.

Can you recruit a manager for several clinic locations?

Yes. Multi-site roles need a manager who can lead through others, set consistent processes and travel between locations. We ask how many sites there are, how far apart they are and what support staff each has, then look for candidates who have managed across locations or led teams remotely.
