Finch Employment

Professional & office recruitmentSupply chain and procurement recruitment in Toronto and across Canada

Finch helps employers in Toronto, the GTA and across Canada hire the buyers, planners, analysts and coordinators who keep materials moving and costs under control.

Your supply chain team decides what you buy, from whom, at what price and when it arrives. A strong buyer or planner protects your margins and keeps production lines and shelves stocked; a weak one leaves you with expedited freight, stockouts and warehouses full of the wrong items. Because these roles sit between finance, operations and sales, one hire affects far more of the business than the job title suggests.

Finch Employment recruits supply chain and procurement professionals on a retainer basis for employers in Toronto, the GTA and across Canada, with searches outside Ontario run by phone and video from our North York office. We begin with a consultation about your products, systems and suppliers, then advertise, source and screen candidates. You meet a shortlist of suitable people, we arrange the interviews and we follow up after the start date.

Why supply chain hiring takes a specialist

Titles such as buyer, planner, analyst and coordinator overlap from one company to the next, so a résumé rarely tells you what the person actually controlled.

Experience is tied to systems and sectors; a planner from consumer goods may struggle in an engineer-to-order manufacturer, and the reverse is also true.

Strong negotiators and planners are usually employed and well treated, so reaching them takes direct sourcing rather than a single job posting.

Import, customs and trade compliance work carries real financial exposure, and errors in classification or origin can surface long after the employee has moved on.

How we screen supply chain & procurement candidates

  • Which categories, suppliers, spend or inventory they were personally responsible for, rather than what their department handled
  • Hands-on experience with your ERP, MRP or transportation management system, and how quickly they have learned new ones
  • Negotiation and supplier management examples, including a time a supplier failed to deliver
  • Relevant designations or coursework, such as Supply Chain Canada's SCMP or ASCM's CPIM and CSCP, where the role calls for them
  • Eligibility to work in Canada and fit with your on-site, hybrid or travel requirements

Supply chain & procurement recruitment: questions employers ask

Do supply chain and procurement roles require a licence?

Generally no. Procurement, planning and logistics roles in Ontario are not licensed professions, so employers hire on experience and judgment. Many look for designations such as the SCMP from Supply Chain Canada or ASCM's CPIM, CSCP or CLTD. Customs brokerage is different: customs brokers are licensed by the CBSA, which is a separate matter from an in-house import coordinator role.

Can you recruit supply chain staff for locations outside the GTA?

Yes. Toronto and the GTA are our home base, but we also run searches for employers elsewhere in Canada by phone and video. During the consultation we confirm where the person needs to work, how much travel to suppliers or sites is involved and whether hybrid work is possible, then screen candidates against those terms.

How is the fee set for a procurement or supply chain search?

Finch works on a retainer basis only. We agree the fee per position based on its requirements, such as seniority, systems knowledge and how specialized the category is. The retainer is paid up front to begin the search, and we walk you through what it covers before you commit to anything.
