Finch Employment

GTA recruitmentRecruitment agency for employers in Toronto

Finch Employment is a Toronto recruitment agency based in North York. We find qualified, work-eligible professionals for employers across the city, from downtown towers to suburban clinics and offices.

Toronto is our home market. Our office is at 920 Alness St. in North York, and most of the searches we run are for employers somewhere in the city: a medical practice in Scarborough, an accounting firm near Bay Street, a software team in a downtown loft, a property company in Etobicoke. Because we work here every day, we know how hiring differs from one part of the city to the next, including commute patterns, transit access and the kind of candidate who is willing to cross town for the right role.

Toronto employers rarely struggle to attract applicants. The hard part is finding the few who are genuinely suitable once a posting draws a crowd. Finch works on a retainer, which means your search gets dedicated time from the start: we write and place the advertising, approach people who are not actively looking, screen every applicant against your requirements and send you a short list worth interviewing. We only recruit candidates who are already eligible to work in Canada, so there are no immigration steps to plan around.

Hiring in Toronto

Hospitals, clinics and health research

Toronto's hospital network runs from the research hospitals along University Avenue to community sites such as Humber River Health and North York General in North York and Michael Garron Hospital in East York. Around them are family practices, specialist clinics, rehab centres and labs that compete with those hospitals for the same licensed staff. We recruit physicians, nurses and clinical support staff for these employers.

Bay Street and financial services

The Financial District around Bay and King holds the Toronto Stock Exchange, the corporate towers of Canada's major banks, and a dense ring of investment dealers, insurers, wealth managers and accounting firms. These employers need people with the right licences and designations, such as a CPA or CIRO registration for investment advisors, and they expect discretion throughout the search.

Technology, data and AI

Toronto's technology employers range from startups around the MaRS Discovery District and King West to the digital teams inside banks, retailers and hospitals. Demand is steady for developers, data and AI specialists, and security staff who can work in regulated environments. We assess technical skills against your stack and check whether a candidate's background suits a startup or a corporate structure.

Legal and professional services

Downtown Toronto has a heavy concentration of law firms near the courts and Osgoode Hall, home of the Law Society of Ontario. Firms across the city also rely on skilled law clerks, licensed paralegals and executive assistants. We recruit legal and administrative staff for downtown firms and for the smaller practices in North York, Scarborough and Etobicoke that serve local clients.

Recruiting in Toronto: cities and boroughs

How we recruit for Toronto employers

Most Toronto searches start with a consultation by phone, by video or in person at our North York office, booked by appointment. We talk through the role, the team, the pay range you have in mind and where the job is located, since a site near a subway line draws a different pool from an office that is easiest to reach by car. Once the retainer is in place, we begin advertising and approaching candidates directly.

We screen applicants against your must-haves, check licence status on the relevant Ontario regulator's public register where the role requires one, and confirm that each person is eligible to work in Canada. You receive a shortlist of suitable candidates, and we arrange the interviews around your calendar. After an offer is accepted, we follow up with you and the new hire once they have started to make sure the placement is settling in.

Tell us about the role, your team and your timeline. We agree on a retainer and fees tailored to the position.

  2. Retainer & search

Your retainer starts the search. We advertise, source and screen candidates for you.

  3. Shortlist & interviews

You meet only suitable candidates. We arrange every interview.

  4. Hire & follow-up

We manage the offer and check in after your new hire starts.

Recruiting in Toronto: common questions

Can we meet with Finch in person in Toronto?

Yes. Our office is at 920 Alness St., Unit 208, in North York, and visits are by appointment, Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Many Toronto clients prefer a video call for the first consultation and meet us in person later in the search. Call 416-551-6111 to book a time.

Do you only recruit candidates who live in Toronto?

No. We look wherever suitable people are, which often includes York, Peel, Durham and Halton for Toronto roles. For each candidate we confirm that the commute or move is realistic before you spend time on an interview. Every candidate we present is already eligible to work in Canada; we do not recruit from abroad.

Can you recruit licensed professionals, such as physicians or CPAs, in Toronto?

Yes. We recruit regulated professionals and check their standing before they reach your shortlist, for example with the CPSO for physicians, the College of Nurses of Ontario for nurses, CPA Ontario for accountants and the Law Society of Ontario for licensed paralegals. Licensing decisions stay with the regulator; our job is to make sure you only meet candidates who hold what the role requires.
