What a licensed electrician (309A) does
A 309A Electrician – Construction and Maintenance installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems in residential, commercial and institutional buildings. The work includes pulling wire, installing panels and distribution equipment, wiring lighting and devices, and troubleshooting faults. It is a compulsory trade in Ontario, which means the work must be done by a certificate holder or a registered apprentice working under proper supervision.
For electrical contractors, every licensed electrician on staff affects your capacity to take on work and supervise apprentices. Finch confirms each candidate's 309A status, then looks at the work they have done, from service upgrades in homes to new commercial fit-outs, and their understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. You meet electricians whose experience fits the jobs on your schedule.
