What a construction labourer does
Construction labourers do the work that lets every other trade get on with theirs. They prepare and clean sites, move materials, assist carpenters and concrete crews, set up barricades and help with demolition and excavation. A labourer who shows up on time, follows direction and keeps the site tidy has a direct effect on how quickly your skilled trades can work and how safe the site stays.
Because the role is entry level on paper, it is easy to treat hiring as a numbers game, and that usually leads to turnover. Finch looks for labourers who have worked on active sites, understand basic safety practices and want steady work. Some are interested in moving toward an apprenticeship. For you, that means fewer no-shows and a crew member worth training.
